FFXV World Tour

Welcome to FFXV World Tour! A fandom event that celebrates the diversity of the FFXV fandom by creating works in our own languages and/or using our own culture.

About

FFXV World Tour is a global FFXV fandom event that's meant to take us around the world in the same way that the bros' adventures took them around Eos. Many of us who make up the FFXV fandom are multilingual or do not have English as our first language. FFXV World Tour is intended to allow us to enjoy the game the we love as well as our diverse community by creating fan-fiction, poetry, etc. in our own languages or artwork and other visual content celebrating our own culture. So FFXV fan-fiction in German? The bros riding a Kalesa down Vigan? The events of the game happening during the Qing Dynasty?

They all happen here.

We may also have translations of this information in your local language! Click here to find them. Don't see your language? You can submit a translation through this form.

So how does it work?

  • While the main weekend event happened from 2021 June 18 to 2021 June 20, creative works shared after the event will still be reshared by the mod account.

  • Prompts were also provided for each of the event days, serving more as suggestions on what to create rather than a fast and hard rule. The prompts are:

  • I: Local delicacies and customs

  • II: Festivals, holidays and traditions

  • III: Iconic outfits and locations

  • Creators can share their content on Twitter by tagging @ffxvworldtour and/or using the hashtag #FFXVWorldTour. These will then be retweeted by the Twitter event account.

  • The event also makes use of the FFXVWorldTour AO3 Collection.

  • Creators must also make sure to tag their works with the appropriate warnings where needed. The mod will not be able to police every work, especially as she doesn't know all languages.

  • For written works: Content may be created in your own (i.e. non-English) language and are not necessarily set in your own country (i.e. they can still be in Eos but in Thai). Content may also be written in English if set it one's own country or cjkture. Translations are encouraged, either by you or someone else, but not required.

  • For artistic works: We encourage you to reimagine the cast in your local cultures! What would they look like in a hanbok? Who will be the head and the legs in a dragon dance?

FAQ

  • So you mean I can create anything as long as I use my own language and/or culture?

  • Yup! You can create poems, drabbles, fan-fiction, fan-art, edits, music videos, fanmixes, etc. as long as they are created in your local language or your culture. Not only that, we also encourage our creators to reimagine the lore, history and game canon according to their own countries!

  • What if English is my first language but I am also exposed to non-english languages and cultures? Can I still join?

  • While this event was initially inspired by ESL fans of FFXV, there shouldn't be anything wrong with joining even if your first language is English so long as you create using the non-english language and/or culture that you know. And realistically speaking, there's really no easy way for us to find out if you really are French or not, anyway.

  • What if English is the only language but I can write the cast enjoying vegemite or draw them on top of the Statue of Liberty? Can I join?

  • While it's true that that technically fits the bill, the point of the event is to encourage non-english creations, of which there are only a few. The English language, on the other hand, enjoys quite a popularity in AO3 alone. I decided to extend the same rule to artwork falling in the same category just to keep things simple.

  • Is it worth it if I write something in my own language that no one can read anyway and will flop?

  • I understand that this can be discouraging for writers, especially as it feels like no one will appreciate your hard work, but who knows? You might find some surprise readers out there who have been waiting for a story they can understand! And more to the point, this event aims to encourage writers to just enjoy their language through the means of fan-fiction or poetry, etc. Not every story has to be told in English! Some sentiments are just better in our own languages.

  • I am not interested to write for this event but I would like to offer my services as translator! Is that acceptable?

  • That would be wonderful! If you offer your services via tweet and tag @ffxvworldtour, I'll definitely retweet you. Alternatively, you can wait until works are posted and reach out to the creator yourself.

  • Are we allowed to collaborate with a translator/artist/writer, etc?

  • There should be no problems with that!

  • Is this an SFW only event?

  • You can create SFW or NSFW works so long as you ensure to tag with all applicable warnings, etc.

  • About the prompts, do we have to use them? Or can we use other prompts or not use prompts at all?

  • Yes to all questions! The prompts are just there to lend a bit of inspiration on what to create. If you want to twist them around, ignore them, use your own prompts, etc. it's all up to you!
